It integrates SEO, ASO, RAF (Refer-A-Friend), and Content, working cross-functionally with Product, Data, Engineering, Legal, and Brand. Our mission: make Kraken discoverable everywhere that users — and machines — look for credible information about crypto. The AEO function will play a pivotal role in shaping this next phase of growth by aligning data, content, and technical systems around AI-era discovery principles. We are looking for a **Senior Manager, Answer Engine Optimization (AEO)** to define and own Kraken’s strategy for discoverability across AI Overviews, chat assistants, knowledge panels, voice systems, and semantic search environments. This role sits within the Organic Growth organization alongside SEO, ASO, RAF, and Content — and will serve as a strategic bridge between technical infrastructure, brand authority, and AI discovery ecosystems. You’ll design how Kraken’s data, content, and entity presence interact with large language models (LLMs) and generative search systems. This is not traditional SEO. This is about building Kraken’s identity into the foundation of intelligent search. ## The opportunity - Define and lead Kraken’s AEO strategy — spanning AI search (SGE, Bing Copilot), voice assistants, LLM integrations, and multimodal surfaces. - Build and maintain Kraken’s entity and data ecosystem, ensuring accurate, structured, and retrievable information across Wikidata, schema, and knowledge graphs. - Partner with Engineering and Product to implement AEO-first technical infrastructure (structured data, graph APIs, embeddings, crawl optimization). - Lead AEO content architecture, guiding teams on creating short-form, citation-friendly, verifiable content aligned to AI retrieval behaviors. - Collaborate with Brand, Legal, and PR to ensure Kraken’s data and messaging are authoritative, compliant, and discoverable in AI systems. - Measure and optimize AI visibility and citations using emerging tools (e.g., Perplexity, Bing Copilot analytics, SGE monitors). - Partner with Data Science to define AEO performance frameworks — moving beyond rankings toward citation share, retrieval rate, and AI-influenced conversion. - Build internal education and best practices for AEO across Kraken’s global teams. ## Skills you should HODL - 7+ years in search, structured data, or technical growth roles, with deep understanding of AI-driven discovery ecosystems. - Expertise in Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), Entity SEO, and Semantic Search — including schema markup, knowledge graph curation, and data structuring. - Proven ability to bridge engineering and content, translating AI retrieval requirements into actionable systems. - Experience optimizing for LLM and AI search visibility (Google SGE, ChatGPT browsing, Bing Copilot, Perplexity, etc.). - Strong command of structured data formats (JSON-LD, RDFa, microdata), APIs, and crawling/indexing behavior. - Excellent data literacy — experience defining and tracking non-traditional KPIs (citations, entity relationships, knowledge panel accuracy). - Exceptional communication skills — capable of evangelizing AEO to both technical and creative teams. - Deep interest in crypto and Web3, ideally with an understanding of on-chain data, decentralized identity, and crypto market dynamics. ## Nice to haves - Background in information retrieval, NLP, or knowledge engineering. - Experience building knowledge graphs or integrating with open data ecosystems (Wikidata, schema.org). - Familiarity with AI evaluation and prompt engineering for search optimization. - Past experience leading AI visibility initiatives for regulated or high-trust industries (finance, health, etc.). *This job is accepting ongoing applications and there is no application deadline.* *Please note, applicants are permitted to redact or remove information on their resume that identifies age, date of birth, or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution.* *We consider qualified applicants with criminal histories for employment on our team, assessing candidates in a manner consistent with the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.* Kraken is powered by people from around the world and we celebrate all Krakenites for their diverse talents, backgrounds, contributions and unique perspectives. Humility, as such, as a requirement for this role. - An ability to delegate, but not be afraid to get your hands dirty. Know the line between being an effective manager and a micromanager. ## Nice to haves - Knowledge of regulatory bodies, requirements and compliance standards applicable to cryptocurrency exchanges (e.g., VASP, ESMA, MiCA, MiFID II) *This job is accepting ongoing applications and there is no application deadline.* *Please note, applicants are permitted to redact or remove information on their resume that identifies age, date of birth, or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution.* *We consider qualified applicants with criminal histories for employment on our team, assessing candidates in a manner consistent with the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.* Kraken is powered by people from around the world and we celebrate all Krakenites for their diverse talents, backgrounds, contributions and unique perspectives. This is a high-impact, hands-on executive role for someone who has built and scaled integration playbooks inside fast-moving, rapidly growing companies—ideally in fintech or other transformation-driven industries. This is a hands-on role for someone who operates like a systems engineer and a business partner in equal measure—someone who can architect workflows, eliminate operational inefficiencies, and rapidly ship automations that unlock leverage across every function. This role sits within **Business Operations** and is designed to complement and extend the enterprise automation portfolio, focused on process, systems, automation, and workflow orchestration. We’re looking for a **Sr. Director, Head of Design, Consumer** to raise the UX bar, define how people interact with crypto and investments, and build a design culture of consistent excellence. This isn’t an oversight role. It’s a hands-on, high-impact position for a leader who wants to shape strategy while staying close to the work. Kraken’s Consumer business spans some of the company’s most important product areas: - **Trading:** The Kraken App and retail web experience - **Payments:** Our new money app, Krak - **Earn:** Staking and yield products - **Equities:** Our platform for equities and tokenized equities (xStocks) - **Inky:** Our gamified onchain trading app As crypto and fintech evolve at breakneck speed, Kraken sits at the center. The Sr. Director will shape experiences millions rely on to trade, invest, stake, spend, and grow their wealth. You’ll bring a strong POV from crypto, wealth, trading, or fintech and translate it into intuitive, high-quality product experiences. You’ll lead a team of 10 designers, work closely with PMs and engineers, and set the vision, systems, and rituals that drive clarity, speed, and quality across the Consumer portfolio. You elevate quality by engaging directly, not by sitting behind reviews. - **Define and communicate the design vision:** Own the long-term UX strategy for Consumer and bring teams along with clear storytelling and crisp direction. - **Bridge crypto and finance:** Create experiences that work for newcomers and sophisticated investors alike, combining simplicity with the trust and rigor expected in financial products. - **Transform execution quality:** Deliver a step-change improvement in usability, clarity, and polish across trading, payments, staking, and investment experiences. - **Partner deeply with product:** Shape problem definitions, refine hypotheses, and collaborate with PMs daily to ensure we solve the right problems with the right level of ambition. - **Build scalable design processes:** Replace ad-hoc workflows with consistent systems for discovery, iteration, critique, and delivery. - **Drive faster experimentation:** Push for more prototyping, more testing, and tighter learning loops without someone needing to nudge the team. - **Level up the team:** Hire, coach, and grow designers while embedding a culture of accountable execution and rigorous critique. - **Collaborate tightly with engineering:** Ensure design intent holds through implementation and that both sides move quickly and intelligently together. ## Skills you should HODL - **Proven team leadership:** Experience leading and scaling product design teams of 8-15+ in high-growth, product-led environments. - **Domain expertise in crypto or trading plus real experience in wealth, investment, or fintech products.** You understand trust, risk, decision-making, and the behavioral nuance of financial UX. - **A strong point of view on design and how it shapes product strategy,** not just how it shapes screens. - **Hands-on design chops:** You can jump into Figma, model excellent craft, and push work from good to great. - **Strong product intuition:** You partner with PMs as a peer, not a service function. You challenge assumptions, reframe problems, and clarify priorities. - **Operational rigor:** You install systems that raise the bar every time, not just when you personally touch the work. - **Outstanding communication:** Clear, direct, and persuasive with execs, peers, and ICs. - **High judgment:** Pragmatic about scope and tradeoffs without letting quality slide. - **Mission drive:** Belief in Kraken’s role in accelerating financial freedom and expanding access to global markets.
