The Role
We are looking for an experienced AML Officer / Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to take ownership of Crossmint’s UK AML framework and act as the primary point of accountability with UK regulators.
You will be responsible for ensuring that Crossmint meets its obligations under the UK Money Laundering Regulations, Proceeds of Crime Act, and FCA expectations, while supporting a fast-growing, globally distributed fintech operating at the intersection of crypto, payments, and stablecoins.
This is a senior, hands-on role with direct visibility across the business. You will design and maintain the UK AML program, oversee high-risk decisions, file SARs, engage with the FCA and other authorities, and partner closely with Legal, Risk, Product, and Engineering to ensure compliance is embedded into how Crossmint operates.
As Crossmint scales in the UK and Europe, you will also play a key role in aligning UK requirements with broader EU and global AML frameworks.
What You’ll Do

Act as UK MLRO:
- Serve as the nominated MLRO for the UK entity
- Maintain responsibility for SAR decision-making and submissions to the NCA
- Act as the main point of contact for the FCA and other UK authorities

Own the UK AML Framework:
- Design, implement, and continuously improve UK AML and CTF policies, procedures, and controls
- Ensure compliance with UK MLRs, POCA, TACT, and FCA guidance applicable to cryptoasset businesses

Hands-On Oversight:
- Review and decide on escalated high-risk customers and transactions
- Oversee Enhanced Due Diligence for complex or high-risk clients
- Provide final sign-off on sensitive onboarding and exit decisions

Regulatory Engagement and Reporting:
- Manage regulatory filings, inspections, audits, and information requests
- Prepare and present the annual MLRO report to senior management and the board
- Monitor regulatory developments and advise on impact to the business

Risk Management & Training:
- Conduct periodic AML/CTF risk assessments and update the Business Wide Risk Assessment
- Develop and deliver AML training to relevant staff
- Oversee the quality and effectiveness of the first line of defense controls

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work with Product and Engineering to embed compliance into new features and products
- Partner with the global compliance team to ensure a consistent, effective global framework
- Advise on compliance implications for strategic initiatives and partnerships
What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience:
- 5+ years of hands-on AML/CTF compliance experience, with at least 2+ years in a regulated cryptoasset or fintech firm
- Proven experience acting as, or directly supporting, an MLRO for a UK FCA-authorised firm
- Deep, practical knowledge of UK MLRs, POCA, JMLSG guidance, and FCA expectations for crypto businesses
- Extensive experience with SAR decision-making, filing, and NCA liaison
- Strong track record of designing, implementing, and managing effective AML programs and controls

Nice-to-Have Experience:
- Experience with EU AML frameworks (AMLD6, MiCA)
- Familiarity with blockchain analytics tools (e.g., Chainalysis, Elliptic)
- Prior work in a fast-paced, high-growth technology startup
